Sierra Bullets is proud to introduce a new addition to the legendary MatchKing® line. Shooters around the world will appreciate the accuracy and extreme long range performance of our new 6.5 mm 150 grain HPBT (#1755). A sleek 27 caliber elongated ogive and a final meplat reducing operation (pointing) provide an increased ballistic coefficient for optimal wind resistance and velocity retention. To ensure precise bullet to bore alignment, a unique bearing surface to ogive junction uses the same 1.5 degree angle commonly found in many match rifle chamber throats. This bullet requires a twist rate of 1:7.5” or faster to stabilize.
While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications. Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities on varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, BlitzKing®, or Varminter counterparts.
The new 6.5 mm 150 grain HPBT bullets is available in boxes of 500 bullets (#1755C) with a suggested retail of $250.94 per box and boxes of 100 bullet (#1755) with a suggested retail of $50.98 per box.

1:7.5″ twist is kind of a bummer. I’d bet most 6.5CM shooters are running 1:8 barrels so this round will likely not appeal to them. Maybe try it in my next barrel.

They may shoot in some 8 twists, but not all of them.

Built a 7.5 twist bartlein 6.5 creedmoor just for this bullet. They are shooters (sub 1/4”) but really long at .020 off lands and .250 over mag length for my other repeater creedmoor. The 7.5 is a single shot and actually throated short as I could to still get max powder capacity. Tried jumping the bullet at mag length in my 8 twist and shoot +1” groups. Three in .25” with consistent flyers which is expected with this much jump. Doesn’t seem to be a twist issue as much as a jump issue. The flyers went away when set out to lands in 8” barrel but loaded hot at 42.6 H4350. But to cut a throat to meet the lands for a repeater kills the powder capacity. With a 6.5/284 this bullet will be perfect. Going to be my next build and will probably stay with 8 twist barrel. Thoughts?

Hi would this projectile work in a 1:8 twist as indicated in the 6.5CM data as it is stated in the product description recommended This bullet requires a barrel twist rate of 1×7.5” or faster. Would love to try this in a 6.5X55 AI Running 140 Berger’s @ 3053fps at the moment using a 1:8 Maddco bbl.

I think there is a group of silhouette shooters that would like this bullet for high power silhouette if it would work in a 6.5×47. It is a popular round for HP silhouette.

I understand that Sierra is working on the 6th edition reloading manual. I’ve been using Sierra bullets for nearly 35 years, and I love them.
I hope the new manual covers the full spectrum of Sierra bullets for my favorite calibers, such as .260 Remington, 6mm x 47 Laupa, 6.5x 47 Lapua, and 280 Remington/ 280 A.I.
Any word on when the new manual will be available?
Thanks, and keep up the great products.

Entirely to much attention paid to the 6.5 Creedmoor. More information is needed for 260 Rem,
6.5 X 47 Lapua. In regards to the 6.5-150 Sierra. How many records have been broken
with the Creedmoor? Not steel gong records. But accuracy records.
