Ask A Bulletsmith – Where is your favorite gun range?

We asked a few handy Sierra Bullets bulletsmiths: “Where is your favorite gun range?” These bulletsmiths are pretty big fans of the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM.  Have you ever been to the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NMAre you one of the lucky ones who has a range in their own backyard?  We would love to hear from you, please share your response in the comments below.

Media Relations Manager Carroll Pilant answered “Home, my shooting shack has heat, air conditioning, a fridge, padded seats, and targets I can reset from the shack.  My second choice is the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM.”

Ballistic Technician Rich Machholz answered “I like the cleaning/loading/lounging area of the Mid-West Benchrest Range in MO, the staging area and firing line of the Williamsport Original Benchrest range in PA and the Rocky Mountain backdrop of the Colorado Rifle Club near Byer CO and the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM  has all of that except the wooded cleaning/loading/lounging area of the Mid-West Benchrest Range near Huston, Mo.  Actually I haven’t been to a perfect range yet, but I think Tom E. Jacobs Vapor Trail Valley near Spickard MO might be my overall favorite.  If Tom E. could just get Roberts trees. . .”

    I am one of the lucky ones. I can shoot to 1000 yards from my front porch.
    I live off grid in the Oregon High Desert. I have.a 100 yard range, a 200 yard range, a 300 yard range, a 1000 yard range, and an Archery range. Love it when I need to do load developement. Just run outside shoot come back and change the load repete as needed!

    The finest range in America is Colonial Shooting Academy in Richmond and Virginia Beach. Rated five stars by the NSSF, CSA is the quintessential range by which all ranges are measured. JMHO. http://www.colonialshooting.com
